Today he issued an "official" wager on Los Angeles City letterhead to Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon, that has both cities shaking their collective heads tonight.
Mayor V said he wanted to "introduce" some humor into what has been a divisive topic by wagering that if the Lakers beat the Suns, Villaraigosa would send the Republican candidates for California governor, Steve Poizner and Meg Whitman, over to Arizona.
What an idiot. Whatever happened to a box of Oranges, or a trip to Disneyland or Universal Studio's? Why does Antonio always have to make EVERYTHING a POLITICAL ISSUE? I can't wait for him to go back into the life of a "Private Citizen." He has been the a nightmare as the Mayor of Los Angeles. What do you think? Mojo in the Morning (radio station) posted images of Fakih competing its 2007 "Stripper 101" contest that shows the new Miss USA with leaving very little to ones imagination. if you get my drift.
The radio station says it was all in good fun, but Mojo in the Morning wrote on its website today that Miss USA officials contacted them "requesting more photographs and information" regarding Fakih's involvement in the contest.
Here is the "official statement from Mojo In the Morning:"
"Mojo In The Morning fully supports Rimah Fakih as she represents Detroit and America in the Miss Universe contest... The radio show will not entertain requests to drag her name through the mud. When the shows producers asked pageant officials if the images would affect Fakih's title, they wouldn't answer.
"Mojo in the Morning fully supports Rimah Fakih as she represents Detroit and America in the Miss Universe contest," a Mojo staffer emailed Celebrity Circuit. "The radio show will not entertain requests to drag her name through the mud."

Black Sabbath fans all over the world are in mourning today. Ronnie James Dio, best known for his iconic wailing for Black Sabbath and, before that, Rainbow, died of stomach cancer over the weekend. He was reported to be 67 years old.
I remember when Black Sabbath first burst onto the scene back when I was a student at Cerritos High School back in the mid to late 1970's. This loud, sometimes angry music, was "THE MUSIC" for an entire generation of Baby Boomers who are now in their late 40's to late 60's.
His wife Wendy Dio released the following statement:
"Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever. -- Wendy Dio
So, today, when you turn on that Adam Lambert fellow, or that milktoast Taylor Swift, remember that Ronnie James Dio was the real deal, and today another great rock icon is gone forever.
Bad news. Heathrow Airport over in London is closed AGAIN today because of the horrible volcano over in Iceland.
Yep, Europe's busiest airport closed around 10 minutes ago, due to a dense cloud of volcanic ash that is once again spewing across England from Iceland, and it could be closed until Wednesday.
The airspace over London's Heathrow Airport closed at around Midnight local time (Los Angeles) today.
A dense cloud of volcanic ash drifting from Iceland has prompted officials to close airports in northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. No flights were allowed to and from the Isle of Man on Sunday. All three airports in Northern Ireland were closed to air traffic. The no-fly zone also included Manchester and Liverpool in northern England, as well as Prestwick in Scotland, the National Air Traffic Service said.
"Heathrow flights will resume from 07:00 today. However, delays and cancellations are likely due to restrictions being applied by NATS to Heathrow's airspace. We therefore strongly advise passengers planning to fly today to contact their airline before leaving for the airport. Thank you for your patience during this latest period of disruption."
The restrictions affecting Heathrow — as well as Gatwick, Stansted and London City airports.

History was made the Miss USA Pageant Sunday night.
For the first time ever, an Arab American has been named Miss USA, and tonight America is buzzin' about this Dearborn, Michigan beauty.
Rima Fakih, 24, Miss Michigan beat out 50 other women to take the 2010 Miss USA title Sunday night, despite nearly falling on her face in the evening gown competition. I love this annual event, and tonight NBC is celebrating a ratings blockbuster!
I knew that all of the "pre-buzz" over Fakih was worth it. She took the stage with a smile that was just as bright as any hotel marquee on the Vegas strip.
Eyebrow rose when she appeared in her orange and gold bikini, and wore a strapless white gown that resembled a wedding dress. She got into the political fray when she said in the Interview competition that health insurance should cover birth control pills. Yikes. This is not your typical Miss USA.
When asked how she felt about winning the crown, she said, "Ask me after I've had a pizza." WTF? Pizza? Pizza? With that figure?
Fakih, is a Lebanese immigrant. She celebrates both Muslim and Christian faiths and moved to the United States as a baby and was raised in New York. She attended a Catholic school (yet she appears to support a woman's right to choose), and her family moved to Michigan in 2003.
If you recall, the Miss USA Pageant began here in Long Beach, California back in 1952. Tonight, Pageant officials and historians are trying to determine if Fakih is the Arab American, Muslim or immigrant to win the Miss USA title.
Fakih sold her car after graduating college in Michigan to help pay for her run in the Miss Michigan USA pageant.
She said she believed she had the title on Sunday after glancing at pageant owner Donald Trump as she awaited the results with the first runner-up, Miss Oklahoma USA Morgan Elizabeth Woolard. "That's the same look that he gives them when he says, 'You're hired,'" on Trump's reality show "The Apprentice," she said.
Fakih replaces Miss USA 2009 Kristen Dalton and won a spot representing the United States this summer in the 2010 Miss Universe pageant. She also gets a one-year lease in a New York apartment with living expenses, an undisclosed salary (some say it is around $500,000) and various health, professional and beauty services.
Miss Virginia USA Samantha Evelyn Casey was the second runner-up, Miss Colorado USA Jessica Hartman was third runner-up, and Miss Maine USA Katherine Ashley Whittier was the fourth runner-up. Miss California Nicole Johnson from nearby Westlake Villiage made the Top 10.
During the interview portion, Fakih was asked whether she thought birth control should be paid for by health insurance, and she said she believed it should because it's costly. "I believe that birth control is just like every other medication even though it's a controlled substance," Fakih said.

Lilly the Gray Whale has died today sending sadness to many here in Orange County and to her newly found fans across the world.
Lilly made local and national headlines this week when the gray whale got stuck in Dana Point Harbor, tangled in about 150 pounds of netting and tow lines. The 35-foot female grey whale was literally trapped in the local OC harbor for hours.
Lilly was eventually cut free and she began to set out to sea to join the annual whale migration to the cold waters of Alaska.
But, nature took its toll on Lily and today she returned to the local harbor area where she was stuck, and and has died. She washed up on a Dana Point beachfront. Hundreds of fans are currently going to see Lilly at this beach site.
Members of the rescue team that cut away the entanglements Wednesday told local newspapers that they guessed that Lilly was juvenile whale, around 1 or 2 years old. The netting that was strung through its mouth may have prevented it from eating.
Gray whales, which typically live to about 60, scoop their food — primarily krill — from the ocean's bottom and filter it through mouth structures called baleen. (Yep, I know my whales....lol). They migrate between Baja California lagoons, where they calve in the winter, and the waters off Alaska, and Lilly apparently was left behind by her pod.
So Lilly, RIP, girl!

If you drink and drive in Hawaiian Gardens tonight (Friday) or are driving without a valid California Driver's License and Proof of Insurance, consider this your warning. If you are driving buzzed tonight, you will probably end up in handcuffs.
The actual loaction is not being annouced, only that it will be within the Hawaiian Gardens city limits. This is in an effort to reduce the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol involved crashes.
DUI checkpoints are conducted to identify offenders and get them off the street, as well as educate the public on the dangers of impaired driving.
All too often, members of our community are senselessly injured or killed on local roadways by impaired drivers. This DUI/CDL checkpoint is an effort to reduce those tragedies, as well as insuring drivers posses a valid driver’s license.
A major component of these checkpoints is to increase awareness of the dangers or impaired driving and to encourage sober designated drivers.
The volcano located on Iceland’s Eyjafjallajokull glacier continues pour out ash in huge massive lingering clouds, and it is now causing huge trouble as far away as Africa and South WesternEurope.
The massive pesky volcano is shooting red out lava today, and another massive eruption is feared by officials. The continuing ash plume from the volcano have added to the troublesome cloud that is currently causing concerns for Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Turkey, Spain, and Portugal.

Here is an update on the BREAKING NEWS in LONG BEACH regarding those 2 bank robbery suspects who are being hunted down right now.
One suspect, a male black weighing about 300 pounds (yikes), had been seen in the area of East Carson and Pioneer near the Hawaiian Gardens Casino.
The 405 began reopening to traffic at about 1:30 p.m. but many nearby residential streets were still affected.
Residents in the area were being advised via a reverse 911 call to lock themselves in their homes or businesses.
Schools currently on lock down include:
Millikan High School
Stanford Middle School
Emerson Elementary School
Cubberley Elementary School
Burcham Elementary School
Prisk Elementary School
The schools secured around noon saw lockdowns end about half an hour later and will dismissed at the regular times.
Police and school officials will help direct students as some roads near schools my be blocked as a result of law enforcement activity.
United Methodist Church and St. Joseph's Catholic School also put their students in protective lockdown.
Two suspects remain at large after a bank robbery in Laguna Hills, and one of them have been caught on the 405 Freeway at Woodruff Avenue south of Willow Avenue at the 405 Freeway in Long Beach.
The freeway is on fire at the present time after law enforcement deployed tear gas in a wooded area off the freeway. CNN and all of the local news channels here in Los Angeles are covering this Breaking News story.
The suspect vehicle was stopped northbound on the 405 freeway at the Woodruff exit in Long Beach, where an officer-involved shooting occurred.
The CHP officer reported that the vehicle has bullet holes in the doors and so it is safe to assume that shots were fired by the officer.
One suspect, an adult black male, fled on foot and remains at large. CHP and LBPD officers have set up a perimeter in the east Long Beach neighborhood to search for him. One of the suspects may be a woman, and a local neighborhood is on lock down, including a school.
The entire area is shutdown. If you are in the area of Willow and Woodruff STAY INSIDE! Several local schools are on lockdown including Millikan High School, St. Joseph's High School, and several local elemetary schools.
Some witnesses have reported seeing the suspect on foot near the Carson exit at the 605 Freeway, perhaps in Hawaiian Gardens while other reports have said that the suspect is in Cypress. Officers are still trying to determine which reports are true and currently advise residents to lock their doors.
So, if you see anyone in your neighborhood who looks like these two suspects, call 911. Police want everyone in this part of our community to take caution and to remain indoors. BE SAFE!
SANTA ANA, CA—An Orange County resident has been sentenced to 121 months in federal prison for participating in a fraudulent investmentscheme with an Orange County attorney that took in more than $61 million before it crashed and caused approximately 140 investors to suffer more than $20 million in losses.
James Halstead, 63, of Tustin, was sentenced late last night by United States District Judge David O. Carter. In addition to the prison term, Judge Carter ordered Halstead to pay $14,525,993 in restitution, which represents the amount of losses directly attributed to Halstead.

I use to do campaign work for "Judge Dave" back when he ran against Congressman B-1 Bob Dornan in the mid 1980's here in the Cerritos/West Orange County area. I am SO SO glad that we have GOOD FEDERAL JUDGES like DAVE CARTER keeping the world around us safer! We need more "David Carters" as Judges....!
Anyway, back to the case.....on September 28, 2009, Halstead pleaded guilty to wirefraud and mail fraud, admitting that he worked with an Irvine attorney, Jeanne Rowzee, 50, to bilk victims who thought they were investing in public investments in private entities (PIPEs) and money market programs. Halstead and Rowzee promised returns of 25 percent to 35 percent every three to four months.

Halstead and Halstead solicited investments in PIPEs as short-term bridge loans to companies that were in the process of obtaining equity financing for growth. Victims were told that their money would be used to fund the short-term loans, and Halstead and Rowzee claimed they had never lost money in this type of investment. Halstead and Rowzee told victims that Rowzee was an experienced securities attorney and had previously worked for the Securities and Exchange Commission.
In reality, the victims’ money was never invested. Halstead and Rowzee instead used the money to make Ponzi payments to some investors and to support their lavish lifestyles. According to court documents, Halstead used $191,005 of victim-investors’ money to buy a Ferrari, more than $1 million to purchase a home for himself in the Las Vegas area, and $162,350 to buy a Porsche.
When he pleaded guilty last fall, Halstead also admitted defrauding a Newport Beach man by offering phony investments in insurance premium funding. Instead of using the money to fund insurance premiums for third parties, Halstead used the money for his own enrichment.
When she pleaded guilty in October 2008 to conspiracy and securities fraud, Rowzee admitted that the PIPEs scheme was a fraud, and that claims to investors – regarding the existence of the PIPEs, her experience as a securities lawyer, that she personally performed due diligence on each PIPE, and that they had never lost any money – were false. Rowzee is scheduled to be sentenced by United States District Judge Andrew J. Guilford on December 13, at which time she faces a statutory maximum sentence of 15 years in federal prison.
The investigation into the PIPE scheme run by Halstead and Rowzee began when victims of the scheme reported the fraud to the FBI’s Orange County office. The investigation into Halstead and Rowzee was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which received assistance from the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Funeral Services for Serena Tarin, Alfredo Tarin, Jr., and their father, Alfredo Tarin Sr. have been finalized. The community is invited to remember these three great family members who lost their life last week in that horrific mass shooting at their Devlin Avenue home here in Hawaiian Gardens.
Public Viewing and Rosary: Friday, May 21st from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at All Souls Mortuary at 4400 Cherry Avenue in Long Beach.
Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery at 11:30 to 12 p.m. at 4400 Cherry Avenue in Long Beach.

Cypress: Local police have arrested a man suspected of a violent sexual assault against a local female Cypress Collegestudent.
The alleged assault occurred last week in a Cypress College campus restroom.
The victim, who’s identity is protected under the law, identified the suspect as Robert Daniel Barba, who is now under arrest.
Barba was located at his residence in Cypress yesterday and was booked at the Cypress City Jail on the charges of Sodomy, and Sexual Battery. He was later transferred to the Orange County Jail where he is being held on $100,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Court at the West Justice Center on tomorrow, Thursday, May 13 at around 9 a.m.
Detectives are interested in speaking with anyone who can have additional information on this or any other similar cases. There are no indications there are other victims as this case appears to be an isolated incident.
