Tranquility still rules the world...one duck at a time...especially in Cerritos.

As I was leaving the Artesia-Cerritos Soroptimist Monte Carlo Night over the weekend at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, I ran across this one lonely brown duck...all a glow with the moon rising...

Tranquility still rules the world...one duck at a time.  It's the little things in life that are just plain priceless.

The newly rebuilt Los Angeles County Sheriff's Station and Community Safety Center has been "officially" dedicated in a great ceremony on Saturday.

The $6.5 million upgrade, which was funded by the city's redevelopment agency is spectacular and includes 10,000 square feet of additional space.

The location is at the Cerritos Civic Center at 183rd Street and Bloomfield Avenue.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca helped dedicate the new center and he said that the residents of Ceritos are "blessed to live in a city that truly understands the importance of investing in law enforcement."

Sherrif Baca praised local Cerritos Sheriff Captain Joe A. Gonzales and all of the Cerrios Sheriff Deputies and staff and the members of the Cerritos City Council for being "great partners" in helping make Cerritos one of the "safest cities in all of the County of Los Angeles."

CUTTIN DA' RIBBON!

The $6.5 million upgrade, which is funded by the city's redevelopment agency, includes 10,000 square feet of additional space and a remodeling of the facility. Cerritos received a $350,000 federal grant to cover the cost of technological improvements to the 911 dispatch center.

CBS 13 News in Sacramento: Anti-Gay State Senator Roy Ashburn arrested after leaving Gay nightclub "Faces." You can't make this stuff up. OMG.

You can't believe this news story coming out of Sacramento this morning.  You can't make this STUFF UP....OMG....!  Time to PULL the PLUG on these OUT of CONTROL SENATORS and ASSEMBLYMEN IN SACRAMENTO.

CBS13 News in Sacramento is reporting tonight that State Senator Roy Ashburn, from Bakersfield,  was arrested for allegedly driving drunk after leaving Faces, a gay nightclub in midtown Sacramento, early Wednesday morning and had an "unidentify" man with him at the time of his arrest.

The California Highway Patrol pulled over Senator Roy Ashburn at 2:00 a.m. Wednesday after an officer noticed a black Chevy Tahoe swerving at 13th and L Streets.  The Sacramento County district attorney says Republican state Sen. Roy Ashburn's blood-alcohol level was .14 percent when he was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving near the Capitol.

Ashburn, a father of four, is a Republican Senator representing parts of Kern, Tulare and San Bernardino Counties with a history of opposing gay rights.  When the officer stopped the state-issued vehicle, the driver identified himself as Senator Ashburn. He was arrested without incident and charged with two misdemeanors: driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol level higher than .08% or higher.

A male passenger, who was not identified as a lawmaker, was also in the car but was not detained. Ashburn was booked into the Sacramento County Jail and released on $1,400 bond.  Ashburn issued a statement on the arrest Wednesday afternoon:

"I am deeply sorry for my actions and offer no excuse for my poor judgment. I accept complete responsibility for my conduct and am prepared to accept the consequences for what I did. I am also truly sorry for the impact this incident will have on those who support and trust me – my family, my constituents, my friends, and my colleagues in the Senate."

TEMPLE CITY - Well, another Southern California elected official has resigned today under a cloud of political napalm.

The wave of corruption in our local city halls is beyond staggering to say the least.

Temple City Councilwoman Judy Wong (seen here)  has quit her elected office.

Wong was indicted nine months ago on felony charges of bribery and perjury.  Last night she called it quits. Good Bye.  See Ya. She is outta Temple City.

In case your memory bank needs to be jogged....last summer, the Los Angeles County Grand Jury indicted Wong on 10 felony charges, including bribery and perjury, stemming from accusations she accepted payment in return for support of developer Randy Wang's $75 million Temple City Piazza mall project.

Wong is in deep trouble and could spend 10 years in the slammer if she is convicted. In her resignation this week she stated:

"As the court case has progressed, it has become increasingly difficult for me to juggle my responsibilities as a city council member and at the same time to assist in the preparation of my trial defense.  Moreover, in recent months my legal situation has spilled over into council business. City business is too important to allow my pending legal matter to interrupt city council proceedings."

Former TC mayor Cathe Wilson, is also accused of accepting bribes from developer Wang and lying about it.  They will be in a downtown Los Angeles courthouse today (Friday).

Stay tuned....

NO DOUBT another CROOKED POLITICIAN could be GETTING INDICTED, or RESIGNING any MINUTE...and frankly....I CAN'T WAIT!

Ex-Monterey Park Mayor Sharon Martinez indicted on 5 Felony counts ranging from misuse of city logo, campaign forgery, yada, yada.

Location of Monterey Park in Los Angeles Count...Image via Wikipedia
Note:  Today at 3 p.m., the Cerritos City Council will be meeting at the Cerritos Library to discuss "Protocol" and ethics by its elected officials.  Over in Monterey Park, former Mayor Sharon Martinez has been indicted  on 5 felonies for forging and using a "city seal" in a campaign mailing, signing another city council members name on a campaign mailing, and other misdeeds.

I hope that this TIMELY information is useful to the community here in CERRITOS.

Remember, there are certain simple things that you "CAN" and "CANNOT DO" as elected officials, like misusing the City Seal in unofficial city business or for political purposes.

This criminal case in Monterey Park needs to be EXAMINED very carefully by every elected official and city staff member in EVERY city hall in Los Angeles County.
Randy Economy

MONTEREY PARK – Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley has charged former Mayor and Councilwoman Sharon Martinez with five felonies in connection with a 2007 election campaign mailer.

Martinez, 43, was charged on Feb. 26 with one count of conspiracy to commit false campaign advertisement, one count of false campaign advertisement, one count of forgery, one count of use of a counterfeit city seal, one count of perjury and one misdemeanor attempt to dissuade a witness, said David Demerjian, head deputy of the District Attorney's Office Public Integrity.

If convicted, Martinez faces a maximum of five years and four months in state prison, Demerjian said.

The charges stem from a 2007 election campaign mailer that targeted Councilman Frank Venti, Demerjian said.

The mailer contained a letter signed by Venti claiming he was working to oust the city's fire department and replace it with a contract with Los Angeles County Fire Department, Venti said. The signature on the letter was a forgery and contained a counterfeit city seal, according to the complaint filed by the district attorney's office.

Martinez paid Alhambra political consultant Melrose Castillo $5,000 in cash to produce and distribute the mailer, anonymously, according to the complaint. Castillo is also charged with the same five felonies, according to the complaint.

Martinez had served on the Monterey Park City Council since 2001 before she was defeated in a reelection bid last year.

She came in fourth in the March 2009 election when Councilwoman Betty Tom Chu replaced her on the council with an election victory. Councilman David Lau was also reelected that year.

Here are more details on the arrest of State Senator Roy Ashburn on Drunk Driving charges this morning in Sacramento

The car he was driving was owned by the taxpayers of California. Yep.  "We The People" owned the car he was driving around drunk.

Amazing, but sad.  Why do we pay for the cars of our State Legislators in Sacramento?  This needs to stop...asap.  SACRAMENTO, CA - FEBRUARY 18: California Stat...The California Highway Patrol picked up Ashburn at 2:00 am morning after an officer noticed that his black Chevy Tahoe swerving at 13th and L Streets near the State Capitol.

Ashburn is termed out of office this November due to term limits....thank goodness.

Also, there is NO TRUTH to the internet rumor that State Senator Patricia Wiggins was travelling in the car with him at the time of his arrest.  Okay.   So stop those lies about poor Senator Wiggins.

Sacramento:

Conservative California Republican State Senator Roy Ashburn from Bakersfield, has been arrested on DUI charges in Sacramento after a night of partying.

The California Highway Patrol picked up Ashburn at 2:00 am morning after an officer noticed a black Chevy Tahoe swerving at 13th and L Streets near the State Capitol.

When the officer stopped the Tahoe, the driver identified himself as Senator Ashburn.

He has been charged with two misdemeanors; driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol level higher than .08% or higher.

Ashburn was booked into the Sacramento County Jail and released.

I wonder if he was driving a taxpayer owned vehicle?  No word if he is heading to rehab.  I can ONLY imagine the hang over he must have today?  These politicians in Sacramento are out of control.

Ashburn is a Republican Senator representing parts of Kern, Tulare and San Bernardino Counties.

Well, it didn't take long for the now famous "empty water cannister" outburst of Democartic California State Senator Patricia Wiggins to hit "You Tube."

Sen. Wiggins a Democrat from Santa Rosa is heard yelling about an empty water container during the Joint Legislative Audit Committee meeting Feb. 17, 2010.

Sen. Wiggins shocked onlookers in a packed committee hearing in Sacramento last week when she screamed repeatedly about a water canister that had gone unfilled and she appeared to advance threateningly toward another senator, Lois Wolk.

Only after security staff moved in and an aide for Wiggins intervened did the 69-year-old Wiggins tirade come to an end.

Thanks to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat for positng this on You Tube.  Is it time for Senator Wiggins to be removed from office?  What do you thoughts?

(With reports from the Media Desk at the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office)

Las Vegas –  This is my "must thing" to do in Las Vegas  this week.

Evidence from some of Los Angeles County’s most notorious criminal cases – including the Robert F. Kennedy assassination and Manson murder trial – will be showcased this week as part of a crime history exhibit.

Are you kidding me?

Nope this public exhibit is for real, and will be walk down "criminal Los Angeles Memory Lane" and needs to been seen to believed.

But you got to head to Las Vegas to see it.
“Behind the Scenes,” an exhibit featuring evidence, photographs, video footage and vintage vehicles from homicide investigations spanning 100 years, is free and open to the public March 3 and 4 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The exhibit will be housed at the Palms Casino Resort, Key West Ballroom, 4321 West Flamingo Road, in Las Vegas.

“The Los Angeles Police Department’s homicide investigators have again and again demonstrated their ability to put together evidence on all sorts of crimes and certainly the more notorious killings in the city,” said District Attorney Steve Cooley. “We are happy to participate in this important historical exhibit by providing some of the evidence collected over the years by the hard-working detectives with whom we work so closely.”

Items on display from the District Attorney’s historical evidence collection include the clothes worn by Senator Kennedy the night of his assassination, weapons seized from the Manson family, gloves and a knit cap from the O.J. Simpson murder trial and firearms from the Onion Field case.

Detectives of the Los Angeles Police Department curated the exhibit for the 2010 California Homicide Investigators Conference.

Photographs and memorabilia from high profile cases in the City of Los Angeles also will be on display courtesy of the Los Angeles Police Historical Society Museum. Among the cases to be highlighted are Marilyn Monroe’s death, the Black Dahlia murder, the 1997 North Hollywood shootout and the 1974 Symbionese Liberation Army shootout.

So, for the curious and avid true-blue Native Angeleno, you gotta check this exhibit out!
