No city hall is safe from corruption and tonight Oxnard City Hall is being raided by members of the Ventura County District Attorney's Office and the FBI.

Move over Bell, and Maywood, meet the bad boyz and girlz from Oxnard....

About 7:45 p.m. Ventura County DA investigators hauled out about 15 boxes from the public works building and placed them in a dark van. According to the Ventura County Star, several more boxes
of files from the City’s Administrator’s Office have also been taken as possible "evidence" in a criminal probe. "Late Friday the DA’s chief investigator, Rob Briner, came out of City Hall briefly and confirmed his office was conducting an investigation of the city of Oxnard in conjunction with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)."

Those interviewed in the probe so far includes:
  • City Manager Ed Sotelo
  • Assistant City Manager Karen Burnham
  • Finance Director James Cameron
  • Director of Community Development Services Curtis Canon
  • Deputy Director of Public Works Mark Norris
  • Michael Moore, an official in the finance department.
Also, are you really interested in what Oxnard City Manager Ed Sotelo is worth? Here is a breakdown of his salary and benefits and other perks according to a study from the "Public CEO" better known as the Public Pay Institute. Looks like swingin' Ed could be giving EX-Bell City Manager Robert Rizzo a run for his over stuffed wallet!

There has been corruption for years, but now because of the high debts and the failing economy, people are taking notice. It's about time. The next sweep should be in all school district offices and finance departments. There is too much waste there and some districts issue credit cards to board members and others who do not need credit cards.

this article is a joke! randy economy is just trying to stir the pot! if anyone payed any attention to his income figures he took sotelos yearly compensation and added it again (the same amount) for his pension compensation! i researched and found that sotelo makes somewhere around $280,000. come on randy give accurate info! this investigation is about ken ortega, mayor holden & councilman andres herrera! watch this roll out those 3 are dirty! the media guessing that this is a city of bell situation is just that....a guess!

This is in response to "Anonymous said" I found City Manager Sotelo's income to be estimated at $275,000! That is a large salary but then again Oxnard is about 5 times the size of The City of Bell. Mr. Randy Economy, I think your figures are a "little" too high. haha

Right on Randy. You are the BEST. Thanks for getting out the "REAL" DOLLARS these CITY MANAGERS are making.

Why can't the REST of the MEDIA REPORT ON these TOTAL COMPENSATION PACKAGES NUMBERS for ALL CITY MANAGERS.

Randy,

I don't know if you are going to have the time or resources to get the bus tour on the road; the amount of corruption is like an out of control wildfire. To anonymous who said "what the hell is going on in these CITY HALLS"; What do you think; you can't tell without transparency, and you can't prevent it without a structure in place. The communities need to become active; unless you want to sit back and let them do it to you over and over
again!

Some of you imbiciles think that $250k is acceptable for a City Manager? Are you on crack?

People need to UNDERSTAND HOW CITY MANAGERS MAKE THEIR DOLLARS. BASE SALARY is ONLY ONE PART of their WAGE PACKAGES. GET EDUCATED. DON'T LET THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA TELL YOU HOW A CITY MANGER IS COMPENSATED! DONT BE FOOLED IN OXNARD. THIS IS HAPPENING AT EVERY CITY HALL!

RECALL REMOVE EM ALL said...

Just saw this news on NBC 4 tonight. Sotelo is a HUGE PARTY BOY.

NOTHING BUT THE BEST for "SO-TELL-US MORE LIES!" at OXNARD CITY HALL.

REVOLT. RECALL. REMOVE EM ALL!
