"Dirty" Special Election comes to head today Behind The Orange Curtain in the 72nd Assembly District

By Randy Economy

SANTA ANA -  Ahh, another nasty campaign reaches a climate today in The OC.

Voters in Orange County are picking a new legislator today to fill a seat left vacant after a lawmaker's sex comments led to his resignation.

Republican Assemblyman Mike Duvall stepped down in September after being caught on videotape bragging about kinky romps with lobbyists.

Five candidates are on the ballot but it's mostly been a showdown between two Republicans: county Supervisor Chris Norby and Republican National Committee member Linda Ackerman.

A candidate needs to clear 50 percent of the vote to win outright. Otherwise, a runoff will be held Jan. 12 with the top vote-getter from each party.
The campaign between Norby and Ackerman has been a real nasty one. Ackerman has been labled as an "Irvine Carpetbagger" and Norby has been called a copy-cat version of former Assemblyman Duvall and political mail also hit him on being married five times.

So, another Dirty GOP Assembly Primary in The OC comes to a climax today.

You gotta love politics behind the Curtain,
