 By Randy Economy

Thousands of local Cerritos residents lined up around the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts Center this afternoon in hopes of receiving an H1N1 Flu Vaccination.

By 1 p.m., more than 4,000 people were already waiting in line and some had been there for more than 4 hours. The Clinic was scheduled to go on till 9 p.m. According to medical staff at the site, only 3,000 doses of the vaccine were available at this location.

The next H1N1 Clinic will be held on Wednesday, November 4th at the Hawaiian Gardens Human Resources Department, located at 21815 Pioneer Blvd., from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

This flu season the Center for Disease Control (CDC) warns that the young and the elderly are at high risk when it comes to the H1N1 flu virus. The most vulnerable in our community are encouraged to obtain an H1N1 vaccine as soon as possible.

You may be high risk if you are:
Between the ages of 24 to 64 with chronic health problems or a weakened immune system. Pregnant. Between 6 months to 24 years of age. Live with or care for children 6 months old or younger. Work in the health care or emergency medical services. Individuals that meet these qualifications are asked to visit any of the following locations on the dates indicated. If you do not meet the qualifications noted above, the H1N1 vaccine may be available later in the year.
